Bear Paw Roll Up Quilt Pattern – Free PDF

The Bear Paw Roll Up Quilt, designed by Elise Lea for Robert Kaufman Fabrics, is a stunning modern take on a traditional favorite. Using a Roll Up (jelly roll) along with accent and background fabrics, this quilt combines warm and cool colorways to create a lively, geometric layout full of movement.

With a finished size of 56 ½” x 68”, it’s the perfect quilt for a throw, bed topper, or gift. The clever use of half-square triangles (HSTs) and block assembly makes it a fun project for confident beginners and an enjoyable challenge for experienced quilters who love working with color play.

What makes the Bear Paw Roll Up Quilt so appealing is the clever way it blends traditional block design with the convenience of precuts. By using a Roll Up, or jelly roll, you save time on cutting and can dive straight into piecing colorful units. The combination of warm and cool fabrics creates contrast and balance, allowing the quilt to shine in both modern and classic settings. This makes it a versatile project that works beautifully as a cozy throw, a decorative accent, or even a thoughtful handmade gift.
