Cutting Instructions

  • From each light fat quarter, cut strips into 3 ⅞” squares (labeled A).

  • From each dark fat quarter, cut 7 ¼” squares (labeled B).

  • From ¼ yard cuts, continue cutting additional A-squares until you have 240 total A-squares.

  • From dark prints, cut a total of 60 B-squares.

  • From Choke Cherry, cut binding strips at 2 ½” width.

Sewing Techniques – Flying Geese Method

The quilt is built with flying geese blocks using the 4-at-a-time method:

  1. Gather (1) B-square and (4) A-squares.

  2. Draw a diagonal line on each A-square.

  3. Place two A-squares on top of the B-square, right sides together, so lines align diagonally.

  4. Sew ¼” on both sides of the line, cut apart, and press.

  5. Add another A-square to each unit, sew again ¼” on both sides of the drawn line, cut, press, and trim.

  6. Each set makes four flying geese blocks, measuring 3 ½” x 6 ½” unfinished.

Repeat until you have 240 flying geese units.
