Cutting Instructions

From these fabrics, you’ll be cutting squares and border strips:

  • From Fabric A:

    • 63 squares (7” each) for half-square triangles

    • 2 side outer borders: 3-1/2” x 72-1/2”

    • 2 top/bottom outer borders: 3-1/2” x 66-1/2”

  • From Fabrics B–H:

    • 9 squares (7” each) per fabric for half-square triangles

  • Binding:

    • 8 strips, 2-1/2” x WOF

Step-by-Step Assembly

  1. Make the Half-Square Triangles (HSTs):
Pair one Fabric A square with one square from B–H, right sides together. Mark a diagonal line, sew 1/4” from both sides of the line, cut, and press. Trim each block to 6-1/2”.

  2. Repeat with all pairings:
    You’ll create sets of HSTs in combinations A/B, A/C, A/D, A/E, A/F, A/G, and A/H.

  3. Assemble the Quilt Top:

    • Lay out the HSTs into 12 rows of 10 blocks each, following the quilt diagram for orientation.

    • Sew the blocks into rows, alternating pressing direction (left for odd rows, right for even rows).

    • Join rows together, pressing seams open.

  4. Add Borders:
Attach side borders first, then top and bottom borders.

  5. Finish the Quilt:
Baste, quilt as desired, add binding, and enjoy your finished Kingdom Dottie Quilt.
